Teaspoon to Pound Conversion

This feature allows the user that is writing recipes to enter a teaspoon (for example) amount of a spice and the system will calculate the amount to a decimal part of a LB. See the setup appendix for a reference chart for the most common spices.
To determine the Tsp\Lb conversion for an item not on the list follow this simple guide:
  1. Weigh an empty 1-Cup measuring cup.
  2. Fill that same cup with 1 Cup of the product that you want to calculate the conversion for.
  3. Weigh the filled cup.
  4. Subtract the weight of the empty cup from the full cup weight, this will give you the Tare Weight (the weight of the product only).
  5. Next convert the Tare Weight to decimal parts of a pound
  6. Then divide the number 48 by the Tare Weight (now in decimals).
  7. The result is the Tsp\Lb conversion for that product.
Example:
  1. Empty Cup = 2oz

  2. Weight of Cup and Product = 9 ¾ oz.

  3. (9 ¾ oz – 2 oz) = 7 ¾ oz.

  4. 7 ¾ oz ÷ 16  = .484375

  5. 48 ÷ .484375 = 99.09677

  6. 99.09677 is the Tsp\Lb Conversion for the product.

If the item does not require a conversion, just leave blank, by entering a zero at the prompt for this field 0 = None.

TSP/LB Conversion Tool

Access the conversion tool from the Tools Menu.  This tool can calculate the TSP/LB conversion using the same logic as detailed above.
  1. Enter the weight of the container and it's contents
  2. Select a unit of measure and quantity for that unit (e.g. 1 cup)
  3. Enter the weight of the container
  4. Click Calculate to calculate the TSP/LB conversion
  5. Click Apply to save the calculation to the Global Inventory TSP/LB conversion field

Note:  Weight Values can be entered in LB and OZ using decimal or fractional amounts, spaces would indicate value separation.

Entering 1 2 would be interpreted as 1 lb and  2 oz

Entering 1 1/2 would be interpreted as 1 lb and .5 oz
