Open and Close Meals

The Open and Close Meals function is used to temporarily close or open meals prior to Patron/Portion forecasting. After the meal occurs, the original status will return to the meal for the next cycle. A NEVER open meal can only be opened during forecasting, and is determined in the Location Maintenance file. If a meal has been temporarily opened or closed for a specific operating date, the word Special appears in the Meals column. To open or close a meal, follow the procedure below:
  1. From the Calendar Maintenance grid, select the Operating Date to which the Open and Close Meals function will be applied.
  2. Double click on the Meals cell or from the Goto menu, select Open and Close Meals and the following grid appears:
Click on the meal to open or close to reveal the pull down menu:

Click on open or Closed. If the meal is closed, then it will appear here in red as well as being indicated as Special in the Meals column of the Calendar screen.

Suggested Applications: Thanksgiving Week, the week is open, but you are closing Wednesday Dinner through Sunday Lunch.
